The West Bank has become the flashpoint. On October 23, two Israeli soldiers were killed and three injured in a shooting attack near Hebron. Netanyahu ordered the army to prepare for a full closure of the West Bank and vowed a major military operation. The IDF launched a sweeping operation in Hebron's Ein Deir Baha neighborhood, ordering residents to pack up and leave. More than 2,670 Palestinians have been forcibly displaced from their homes in Hebron, according to data from Hebron Municipality. The Palestinian prime minister's office says the majority are women, children, and elderly people. Defence Minister Israel Katz confirmed about 2,000 Palestinians had been displaced and said the military will close West Bank crossings on election day and restrict Palestinian workers' entry to settlements beforehand.

This is happening days before Israeli elections centered on Netanyahu's handling of security issues. The election framing is explicit: Netanyahu is using the Hebron attack to campaign on security, just as he has used the war on seven fronts to consolidate power. The security doctrine he unveiled is a three-page document calling for pre-emptive military strikes and buffer zones along Israel's borders. It is a codification of the expansion strategy.

Meanwhile, Gaza remains under intermittent strike despite a year-old ceasefire. Israeli strikes in Gaza killed at least seven people on October 24, according to Palestinian hospital officials. A UN-mandated inquiry accused Israel of genocide in Gaza and crimes against humanity in the West Bank; Israel rejects the findings. More than 1,500 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza since the ceasefire began a year ago, according to the territory's Health Ministry, which does not distinguish between civilians and militants but says women and children make up nearly half of those killed.

In Lebanon, Israeli strikes continued in the south as Defense Minister Israel Katz threatened further action and ruled out withdrawal until Hezbollah is disarmed. Israel is fighting what its prime minister describes as a war on seven fronts, and the scope of military operations has expanded significantly in 2026.
